Napier is a coastal town in the huge Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. If this sounds familiar (as it did to us) its because Hawkes Bay is famous for its wineries.
Napier was devastated in the early 1930’s by a huge earthquake but it was quickly rebuilt in its famous art deco style.
Although we only had one night in Napier we found it to be one of the most colourful and cleanest places we’ve seen with many well maintained gardens and no litter. It had a lovely seaside feel and in the morning the smell of freshly cooked bread and cinnamon hung in the air.
