Queenstown is a lakeside town with spectacular views of nearby mountain ranges. It is known as New Zealand’s ‘adventure capital’ and you can participate in an endless range of activities such as leisure boat trips, white water rafting, paragliding, kayaking, luges, hiking, helicopter rides, bungee jumping, jet boating… we even came across a ‘frisbee golf course‘ in the park…
Queenstown Park (above)
Feeling energetic we walked for 2 (steep) miles uphill (and back down again) to the Queenstown Skyline Gondola station rather than taking the cable car. This is known as the ‘Tiki Trail’ and above is the view we were rewarded with at the top.
We drove for 40 minutes along the lakeside road from Queenstown to a small town nearby called Glenorchy (above).
It would be wrong to visit New Zealand without sampling some of their famous wines with some local cheese (above)…
